Week 14- Segmenting and Targeting Markets

             Apple designs and manufactures consumer electronics and relative software products. Their main target markets are college student, professionals, artists and computer followers as well as big companies. However, Apple doesn't seem to target market in the way other companies do. Even though their main target are professional users, they target people. It focuses on users of all type of demographic group and market. Apple lets users decide how and where they'll use its products. Most importantly Apple target to the most creative and liberal people that love innovative, high-tech new products. Their main idea of their products is to engage consumers to be creative, have imagination, and modern with the speed of tech.
            Apple realize that despite their price, they know that by being abroad targeting to everyone, not specifically a market segment. But they realize that there are people out there employed willing to embrace Apple products. 
            Since Apple launched its first products to the public, it began expanding around the nation. For the past years Apple geographic segmentation has increase globally. Targeting to major cities around the world, such like; Tokyo, Russia, Europe, and many more high populated countries becoming a global brand. Apple has become a well known company globally and its strategy concerning target segmentation and targeting markets are simple and open to everyone.

             Ever since Apple open Apple Stores, their business increased turning Apple to be one of the most successful company in the market. It has been revealed that Apple Inc is one of the most innovative company that have higher average stock returns and higher average growth. Mostly known for their new and improved innovative products. Apple remains at its core a product company, one that would never give up control of how their products are created.
            Apple provides a complete ecosystem for developers. In the managing process of all components including hardware, operating systems and the developer tools are designed by one company. They are all designed to work together flawlessly, in order to create an easier and much more perceptive experience so developers can focus on making great apps. The Apple Developer Programs offers a set of technical resources, access to pre-release software, and support in order to help developers with everything they need to create innovative applications for Mac OS X, iOS, iPhones, iPad, extenssion for safari, and accessories such as for iPod.

      Apple has manage to increase customer relationship throughout the years based on their customer service, knowledge, well-thought-out plan to deliver strong products and by creating an Apple culture that builds customers loyalty. Apple provides variable type of activities that keep customers inform in Apple products and aware of what Apple has to offer.
           When shoppers sleeps or tent outside of stores waiting for the new release of products, to be the first ones to buy them such as the iPhone 4 and iPad, its for sure that the company has fanatical brand loyalty. Not only based on Apple's new innovative modern products that attract consumers and leads them to always come back for more, but also what Apple provides within the company. Apple store is a place where you can gather with others, share, learn and enjoy all of Apple product lines. Apple's staffers are well knowledge informed and trained about its products, making customers feel well comfortable when requesting information and service about the products. Week 11- Integrated Marketing Communication.

           Apple's marketing communication has abroad with knowledge and enticing customers every time. Apple communication is intriguing, simple, clear and clever. Their strategy is broadcasting in TV ads, in print ads and online to attract customers. Its communication process within all Apple's promotion mix; advertising, public relation and encoding the message of Apple's mission has helped boosts sales, but enhances the brand value as well.
         Apple  promotion strategy begins by introducing their new products to a group of people in conference and then advertising through ads. Apple's promotional goals are to bring more customers and increase sales by promotions, discounts and much more. Also the AIDA ( Attention, Interest, Desire, Action) concept is used by Apple in their strategy plan. As we all know the only way many people finds out about new products are through Advertisements and sometimes a firm cannot reach their sales goals if their target market is not aware of the good or service that exists.
               When Apple introduced the iPod, Apple had to advertise and promote it extensively through ads on TV, in magazines and on the internet to create attention (A) and awareness for the new products. After the target audience were aware of the product it was time to create interest ( I ), it was by demonstrating to the public the products features on hands in Apple's stores. Apple face competition based of desire (D)on other brands. Their needed to convince potential customers that iPod was the best solution to meet their desire by adding special features such as, extended-life battery, photo-video storage, clock, calender, to-do list and other features. As a result of convincing the target to choice Apple's iPod the most important part was Action (A) to purchase the item, effectively Apple continued advertising to communicate the features, benefits and used of promotions and price discounts.

Week 10- Additional blog on Product Concepts.

              Apple's products has been released every season, and every year we wait for their new and improve innovative products. Apple's product line extension has increase through the new iPods. Since the Mac's Apple has extended the product line to a more broad variety of products and more choices for customers. The iPod has 4 different type of iPod styles and different features for any type of comfort and convenience. These type of iPods are iPod Shuffle, iPod nano,  iPod touch, and iPod classic. In each one offering the same idea of music but different features.
          Appl'es adjustments to products are to modify them as much as possible with a better use of technology, more features, and better style. Many of us buy Apple products and then we realize that in a few months or the next season a new version is released. This can be a shift on the demand on present sales. If future products are expected to be more advanced or for lower prices, today sales will decrease. However Apple manages to maintain their sales goals up top with all their product line of iPod, Macs, iPhone and their new iPad.

Apple have been producing products that attracts consumers to view them as fun, unique and intelligent. Apple provides a variety of products that can be classified as either a business or a consumer products, depending on it's use. For business use Apple products are used to facilitate an organization operations, office use, graphic and art experts users and much more. Regular consumers buy products to satisfy individuals personal wants. Overall Apple's new products can be consider as unsought products, its future new products are unknown until advertising increase consumer awareness of them. However, sometimes Apples shows a sneak-peak of Apple future products to engage consumers towards their coming-up innovative products.
          Overtime, Apple changes their products with new technical and product development to improve its function, style and quality for more easier, funner and amazing use. An example of Apple product modification is in their iPods, they had manage to improve and change their products with more application and much more advance. As well as in their Macs such as their new Mac Air and iPad. As more products are design Steve Jobs makes sure that its products concept are firm, known and as perfect as possible. By modifying their products, its benefits and especially their branding using their same logo in different styles. 
Apple simplicity brand is the ultimate sophistication of their success which aligns with their products and synonymous to intelligences, simple and easy to identify. The simple apple logo has been a global brand since Apple abroad overseas obtaining most of its revenue outside the United States. All around the world Apple is known and easy to identify which attracts consumers to their innovative products. Week 9- Sales Promotion and Personal Selling

           Apple has manage to motivate consumers to purchase their products by Sales Promotion and adding value to their new products. Apple uses promotional methods such as money back guarantees, lower purchases price, rebates, promotions one day sale, discounts in online store, iTunes gift cards, free shipping, and credit for those who qualified. This type of methods are perform by using special short-term techniques to persuade target market to respond toward products.
           An example is the "Back to School" campaign "Buy a Mac for college and get a free iPod touch." This promotion has been promoted since 2007 and only before school starts a short term period from May to September. Engaging college students to buy a Mac for college, "Exercise your mind and your thumbs." During the back to school period, Apple promotes their Mac laptops with school I.D. and they pay for a Macbook and get any free iPod they desire or printer. But for those who didn't bought their Mac during promotion time, college students or teacher or faculty may qualify for education pricing on Mac computers and software all year around.

               Another promotion is Apple's teamwork with Ticketmaster, you can purchase the artists desire album for $1 off in the iTunes Store price, which is a benefit for music fans. Thorough Apple's special promotions sales, the most important consumer sales promotion that Apple provides is within their stores. Week 8- Advertising and Public Relations.

             Apple's unique and simple logo has been known and recognize around the world for the past decades. Apple has become well known for its advertisements which are designed to reflect their products to creative individuals. Their most compelling ads include "Think Different", "iPod people", and based on Apple's portable music player the "iPod." Apple has manage to advertise their new innovative products through television commercial, prints, internet, and outdoor media which includes billboards, mini billboards and much more.
           "Think Different" was featured in television as with a small Apple logo and words Think Different in one corner, which attests to Apple's brand recognition. "Switch" was launched in 2002 which refer to a person who changes from using the Microsoft Windows to the Mac and it was referred to as "real people." "Get Mac" in 2006 became a controversial series. It shows the difference of who owns a PC and a Mac and the difference which makes the Mac feels better younger and more relax. The iPod has been the biggest ad, reaching mostly all type of demography all around, with its colorful fun and liberal ad that engages everyone to feel great while listening to your favorite music player.

            Today however, Apple focused much more of its advertising around especial events in conference like the Machord Expo and Apple Expo. At these conference a large gathering of media of representatives and spectators are drawn together to here Apple's latest products, benefits, and expectations.            Apple Retail Store has expanded throughout the last few years having more than 225 stores, including in Japan, Canada, the UK, Italy, Australia and China. Also it has been confirmed that future stores will be open in more countries around the world. Apple retail store is consider a Specialty Store due to it's specializing in a type of merchandise which are the entire line of computer products, software and peripherals mainly is all about technology merchandise.
          Apple store provides the most modern technology and environment which complements with Apple's products. Apple retail store 5th Avenue is an inspiring store, the instant you see it, it leads you to an engaging visit to the store. The store architecture and large front windows with interactive display of cables and wires. The window glass, glass stairs and glass elevator gives a bright entrance and lighting. The store is in the lower level of the entrance and has a very bright interior. As soon ass you enter the interior floor you can see the big display of all products and different sections. Apple store use large open tables to display all products, allowing all visitors experience on hand with each product. Is the best place to test, drive, and explore as well as learn Apple products. Large posters are around the wall showing all products.There's a sit-down area for kids and demonstrations. Apple's staff employees are easily identify by the solid color shirts they wear with Apple logo and their greetings to all customers.           Apple has been a brand focusing on consumer eletronics needs and improvements in technology. As much more advanced products are launch in Apple's stores, Apple's provides a variety of products that allows consumers to have more options on their best decision making. One of the most innovative products has been the iPod, a portable music player and are in different sizes and styles, such as the iPod shuffle, iPod nano, and i-touch. It's stylish look has attracted people of all demographics, however the tweens and generation Y are the biggest target in the products consumption. Intially the iPod was targeted to tennagers, high income, travelers, and techno savvy, later it became a necessity for everyone who wants to listen to music. The iPod provides a unique style tha allowes anyone to use and was attracted to any group, it became part of a community and has a sense of belonging to it. Is the idea where consumers can carry all songs in one device which can fit in the pocket.
        Influence by peerspppp and others in society has lead an increase in consumers to buy iPod. Consumers are very picky when it comes to making decision on their purchases, it is why when Apple provides their products they allow customers experience the products on hand in Apple's Store and what's best than listening to your favorite music hits while your on the go and also being able to store different datas as well in the same one device. Apples products are obviously consumers wants, but also is an exciting need that one can accessorize it according to their needs. Constructing a very successful company that has change the way technology is used worldwide. Apple is an  American company  which since few years after its launch, Apple started expanding and developing into a global market. Apple has achieved its strategy fit and succeeded its accommodate in many countries, providing the best customer service and customer value to attract more customers. Since Apple provides products that are well engaging today, with its advanced technology many people are attracted to the products and gain interest.
            Apple has developed a well understanding in the global vision, by providing well customer experience, providing products with their own country language and having people feel more comfortable with the products, and getting familiar with local culture, also establishing its branch in well developed countries. Since every country follows different cultures, Apple offers accommodates to people globally, with very modern stores, and welcoming. Apple offers training to workers, to fulfill the best customer services. Apple's simple and familiar logo has allow many countries to be able to recognize and identify the apple logo being Apple Inc.

Coporate Iresponsibility.

            In the consumer electronics Industry, there are many chances that products will not function as supposed to. However, it is the company mission to acknowledge  that fault and fix it. When a company doesn't recognize it's mistakes, and then comes to a conclusion by solving the problem by doing something else. The company behaviour is been seen as the standard of corporate irresponsibility.
           An example of corporate irresponsibility, would be when the new Apple iPhone 4 was launch and a problem was founded weeks later of it's iPhone 4 antenna reception failure, causing major issues to consumers around the world and Apple did little action toward this problem. Apple knew that a problem would occur to the phone and instead of doing the right thing and admitting Apple's mistake. Steve Jobs CEO of Apple, decided to lay the blame on the entire mobile phone industry. After trying and failing to justify the dismal wireless reception capability of the iPhone 4, Jobs proclaimed that "phones aren't perfect." Also Jobs appealed to science by saying that Apple hadn't found a way "around the law of physics." So the phone was designed to be hand held according to his explanation. Jobs explains that the iPhone 4 reception problem is a non-issue, affecting merely a small minority of users. He says that the cause might be because there simply aren't enough cases available for the iPhone 4, but with the previous iPhone 3G, the phone didn't had any problems because cases designed would fit and for the iPhone 4 many people didn't had the same desire of the same cases.
              Yet, the truth of the matter is that Apple's loyal customers are getting cheat with a major issue, and if Jobs doesn't take actions towards his mistakes and his company. He will eventually start loosing loyal customers and public customer in the society. Although he state "Apple is not perfect" but he claims that Apple is "an engineering company" customers expectations are high in demand and customers are willing to give up their Apple products due to insufficient satisfaction. A company bad actions toward their mistakes can bring bad influences and consequences to it's company but mostly it will be consider as a corporate irresponsibility.

The changes in a environment can give the company either benefits or problems.
             Apple's marketing environment factors are several which includes, technological factor, inflation, and competitive factor. As we experience changes in our environment Apple's strategy tries to remain constant focusing on their major impact on their environment. When it comes to the technology aspect, Apple use various technological innovations that help in increasing productivity and improving the quality of their products. Although Apple had faced some problems with their products that where affecting the environment and its consumers. Apple executed those changes into solving them by showing their customer that Apple Cares, and giving them information on their future improvements on their products. As new season comes Apple tires to improve their products by reinventing their previous products and making them more creative, enjoyable and more usable that always impact the society. One of Apple's improvements that helped within the environment was when Apple started removing toxic part on their products, and providing products with less materials, lighter in weight and sizes also products with less electricity consumption. In our environment many consumers are concern on what they purchase, and they make sure is worth the products.
            During competitive economy that we live in today, many consumers think twice before they do their purchases. Inflation is one of Apple's concern, as Apple's products are in high prices. Many customers tend not to buy Apple's products due to it's high prices. Even though their products price may affect their profit, they keep the same price on most of their products and yet Apple remains being a successful company.
            When it comes to competition, Apple's makes sure they stay on the top with their high-tech products within the market. By creating very modern, advance and usable products. Apple's mainly competition are Microsoft, other main computer companies, and even music products in the music industry. Apple provides as huge variety of uses in their products such as the iPod and iPhone. Within the environment Apple's consumers are based on age, professionals and everyone else.            In the process of  Apple new ideas towards their new technology and new methods to improve their strategies on engaging consumers. Apple has further it's efforts to advice publishers to join the company's first push into selling newspapers and magazines subscriptions for the iPad tablet computer. Being able to accomplish it within the next two months or by the beginning of next year.
          While Apple tries to improve their technology to expand their innovating ideas, some of the people says that is better for Apple to announce the print-subscription, and it's periodical service offering as early as next year, along with the likely introducing of a new iPad. Instead of Apple announcing it's offers within the next month or so. Apple has allowed publishers to include "The Wall Street Journal" for $3.99 a week for full access, Newsweek for $2.99 each, the Financial Times, and digital magazine newsstand Zinio, also GQ $2.99/ issues, People for $3.99 each and the USA Today for free. As with Apple's rapid entrances into the media, the subscription efforts have been a big controversial inside the newspapers and magazines companies. All publishers are worried about letting Apple take it's typical 30% sales cut on the media that will sell. Regardless of what other medias might think, Apple's objective towards their new plan has been set and they are looking forward to accomplish their new plan that will change the paperless of daily readers, witch also encourages into the green market. The subscription push will be a sign that newspapers and magazines will be Apple's next front in it's sale of media like it has been with the music industry and with television shows, movies, and books. Week 3- Ethics and Social Responsibility

             Apple is committed to provide the highest standards of ethics and social responsibility throughout their cooperation. Through their Code of Conduct they ensures that working conditions in Apple's supply chain are well safe, also that their workers are treated with respect and dignity, and that the manufacturing process are environmentally responsible. Apple's Code of Conduct recognize the standards as follow: International Labor Organization Standards (ILO), Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), Social Accountability International (SAI), and the Ethic Trading Initiative (ETI). All this code of conduct are apply in all Apple's stores and manufacturing centers. One of it's code of conduct which is Labor and Human Rights, might be the most important one. Every employee has the right to be respected, organized, and be understood. As we know employees needs to be satisfies in order to have customer satisfaction.
         
           Apple's biggest movement in their social responsibility has been their new idea of Apple going green. Apple has stepped up its effort to become environmentally friendly. During the past few years, Apple has manage to go green and being able to gain profit with the new program that everyone in the market is agreeing with. Apple has improve their products in ways that are more environmentally friendly, by removing some of toxic parts in their products and making them more valuable. They produce longer lasting batteries for Macbooks, iPhones, iPods to help reduce the consumption of electricity. Apple engineers improved the energy efficiency of devices by 30%. They  also uses up 55% less material on  new products than it's first generation. But most importantly Apple offers recycling, being able to recycle old products with rewards in return. Recycle anything from your Mac or PC, old iPod, iPhone or any mobile phone and if it has monetary value they'll apply that forward with an Apple gift card, or 10% off a new product. Other ways that Apple is going green is throughout their manufacturing. In their products transportation, smaller packaging than the one's used before, turns out to be a big fuel saver. Now Apple can fit 50% more boxes on a pallet. Apple is using 38%of manufacturing, 5% of transportation, 53% of product use, 1% recycling and 3% facilities. Apple once again is separating itself from the rest of others markets.

              As the year's holidays arrives, Apple prepares themselves with their new products introduces in the past month. The new iPod nano, the new iPod touch, the iPad and the new iTV. During the summer when Apple introduced the iPhone 4 a few weeks later all stores had sold outs of the iPhone and more iPhones where needed to produce. This was one of the most successful product in Apple's history being sold in the shortest period of time. Despite the economy we live today, Apple strategy plan intends to have the same impact on their new products of high purchases in the upcoming holidays. Also becoming more green they expect to engage more customers with their new products in the upcoming year.

Week 2- Strategic Planning of Apple Inc.


              After the downfall of Apple, they learned that taking small steps towards their company success was the best plan and to stick with it. Apple's strategic plan is mostly based on improving their products for a better tomorrow. They try to develop new capabilities and convince customers through their merchandise, their own beliefs and their world view so everyone can do to. Apple has two main strategies which are employing "technology-push" and "market-pull." Apple's innovation on creating the most creative, modern useful technology is their "technology-push." They not only focus on their highly technical gadgets to be sold, but how they reach to people through their technology. Their branding also is a plan, is about lifestyle, imagination, liberty, passion, hope, dreams and aspirations.
               Customer requirements also emphasizes on Apple's planning that serves with "market-pull." They take into account what customers demand and provide the best customer services.               Apple's unique and sophisticated philosophy has executed to focused on the individual needs and wants, rather than sales orientation. Apple's philosophy can be defined as a production orientation philosophy. Their intense focus is on the technology and market side. As every year passes their ideas are changed to make a better product. They may as "What can we do best?" "What can our experts designs? Where do our talents lie?" Their basic understanding is customer needs and wants. However, like all companies, business is to make money, to develop new capabilities and convince customers to view their world the same as theirs. The iPhone and the iPod are good examples of this, as Apple tries to change the iPod and iPhone with new features and a more convincing product all in one. Has proved that they are focused to have more ease of use and more to the customer. This relate to customer value, have the benefit to trade the worth of the product and obtaining what the customer wants. Apple Introduces New Products for 2010!

          As every year passes, a lot new and exciting technology is developed for our future beyond imagination. Apple Inc has gained it's well-known reputation based on their high-tech products that amaze everyone once they are launched into the consumer market. As we have seen Apple, new products come within a year of each product. We have seen Apple I, II, III and Macintosh but more advanced technology has arrived.  Apple redesigned, reinvented and introduced  products that are better for today's wold.

           Apple introduces the new iPod touch that has much more utilities. With it's new incredible features, which includes Face Time video calling, stunning Retina display, and HD video recording makes it the most exciting, thinnest and lightest iPod touch.

            The redesign of products always gets better when the more advanced technology is used. Apple reinvented and redesigned the new iPod nano which now has a multi-touch screen. This new product half the size of it's original version can be moved through your finger tips and let's you browse and navigate your music collection by simply tapping a finger on one of the display icons.

History of Apple Inc.

        Apple is one of the largest Computer companies in world today. Formerly known as Apple Computer Inc., is an international corporation. Apple has expanded it's technology and intelligences which is a huge part in the world today. For the first 30 years, Apple Computer Inc. was well known but then the word "computer" was removed on January 9, 2007 to reflect the company's successful expansion into the consumer electronics market which shipped it focusing to personal computers.

          Apple was established on April 1, 1976 in Cupertino, California by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. Their main goal was to sell the Apple I personal computer kit. Years later Apple II and III came along and more products were introduced that captivated many users such as students, educators, creative professionals and many others consumers. As Apple began to expand, it started to design, market and manufacture computer hardware, software, and other consumer electronics. Through the years the company's best known hardware products began to expand, which included the first Macintosh computers. The introduction of the Macintosh line of personal computers in 1984 lead the company to become well-known for their advanced and intriguing products. Other than the famous Macintosh, years down the line came products to the market which include the ipod, the iphone, the ipad and many more gadgets.
